I just got back from saving the world from aliens, when I overheard
Da' Follower remarking on Oct 31...
>Someone explain to me what on earth a spamblock is, what the point of one
>is, and how I use/get/make/create one
Well I see you are using Microsoft Outlook Express 5.00.2314.1300
First go to the Tools menu, and go down to Accounts near the bottom.
When clicked, the Internet Accounts menu should open on the Mail tab (the
third one).
Then click on the "Da' Follower" account which you obviously did before,
and go down to your email. Add something NOT part of your address, like
"nospam." with the period.
Now the reason:
A spamblock is just that. It prevents mass-mailing and address collecting
software used by spammers from reaching you. When spam goes out to my
address, which has GEEK in the hawaii.edu part, it will bounce back to the
spammer. Thus only if the GEEK is removed will anything reach me.
I don't think that software knows how to remove spamblocks (yet), but to
be sure, I would recommend changing it every few months.
You can also add a fake Reply-to address like me, but that's also
optional.
Do they work? Yes!! The messages in my box don't change a lot from day to
day, and only if I email someone first and they reply.

Thank you.
