Joe is right. Level 1 can be finished in 16 seconds by jumping on the
pigcop's head.
And I have posted the recordings. Go to http://www.head2head.com and
click on the area about duke3d. I've included 3 demos.. they are:
DEMO1.DMO : How to beat Level 1 the proper way, getting the red key,
and then going up the elevator in the arcade.
total time: 42 seconds (demo lasts 38 seconds)
DEMO2.DMO : How to beat Level 1 using the pig cop trick.
total time: 16 seconds (demo lasts 12 seconds)
DEMO3.DMO : The absolute fastest way to complete Level 1 without using
the pigcop as a spring board.
total time: 36 seconds (demo lasts 31 seconds)
These .DMO files overright the default demos that are included with
the game, so you might want to rename your current demos. Also,
notice that the demo length is less than the game time it actually
took. This is because you cannot actually HIT the end switch and
record a demo. If you do it will erase it and you end up with a 9
byte file.
I heard rumors of someone doing Level 1 in 13 seconds with the pigcop
trick, but I'm not too sure I believe it. It would require the other
pigcops to behave perfectly and I don't think they ever would. But
hey.. everything is possible. If he has a demo.. pass it along.
Btw: the demos are recorded on SKILL 4 and I've included .PCX's of the
end level screens showing the play time.
If you think your good, call H2H Phoenix @ 602-303-9816 and we can get
a game going (if your scared, we can make it a 4 way to give you
something else to shoot at) or email me and we can setup a match.
