...a baron knight and a hell knight at the same time, which one do you
shoot at first?

Personally, I've found that--if you've got no rockets or no room to
use them--that shooting the tan one first makes the job easier. Three
(clean) blasts from the double barreled usually brings him down and
then you can concentrate on the pink on. Does anyone find it easier/
better to do it the other way? And show your work!

In most general cases you're right: since a monster with 1 health can do
everything that one with full health can, the only way to reduce the
immediate threat is to reduce the number of things currently attacking.
Hence, usually, removing the ones that die fastest first.

There are of course monsters and situations which violate this, such as
freely-roaming archviles or pain elementals.

However, assuming no other threats around, in the situation of exactly
one baron and one hellknight, I personally would just circlestrafe round
the pair of them, firing at whichever one was nearer, until they are
both dead. Provided there is the room to do this, both are slow, and
have easily dodgeable attacks, so it doesn't matter so much which dies
first.

Yup me too.

And making sure any blasts with double-barrelled shotgun are at near point-blank range.
I also try and make sure that when firing at some primary enemies, the secondary enemies are right behind or next to primary
enemy (if rocket launcher) so that secondary enemy takes damage.

If it is, say, multiple imps and there is room, I will move around until I have several imps in range before firing with
double-barrelled shotgun so they all get some. I believe if you aim right (not all the time mind you), 1 blast of the
double-barrelled shotgun can take out 3 imps.

Oh, yeah, I do that, too. In fact, I do it without even thinking
anymore, and am usually shocked when both imps don't go down with one
blast. :) Once I took out five sergeants with one double-barelled
blast...not to boast or anything. :)

Yup. I sometimes wonder if there is an anomaly in the DBS or S.
Just occasionally I shoot at point blank range and none of the shots seem to hit the enemy.
In theory, that cannot happen. but it has happened to me many times.
I prefer _NEAR_ point blank range rather than point blank range because it seems to happen less.
DBS should take down trooper, shotgun dude, chaingun dude, lost soul, demon & spectre with 1 shot.
DBS should take down cacodemon, pain elemental & revenant with 2 PBR shots
DBS should take down mancubus, archie, hellknight with 3 PBR shots, baron with 5 good shots.

yup, done it.

Also contrary to Hank Leukarts FAQ, I have found that the BFG if fired at PBR at Cyber it takes him down, but it has to be at
PBR. Invulnerability helps.
