Hi

Total n00b question so won't tax anyone's brain here. I understand how to
get the single map .pk4 files to work but I can't figure out how to get mods
to run. I extract them into the Doom3 folder, run the game, go to mods and
there's just Doom 3 there, nothing else.

So is it e:\doom3\bestmodever

or

e:\doom3\def
e:\doom3\maps
e:\doom3\guis
e:\doom3\newpdas
e:\doom3\skins
e:\doom3\materials
etc

or is it

e:\doom\maps\bestmodever

or like the second example but all the subfolders in the maps folder

or something else

Please help!!

Well, I'm not sure what the problem is, but when I installed the "Classic
Doom" mod it went in \doom3\cdoom and that worked fine.

been awhile since i played, but...

i believe you put it into the e:\doom\bestmodever folder. DO NOT put it in a
map\bestmodever folder.

than run the game and from the main menu click the mod button and it will
bring up a display of all the mods you have installed and choose the mod you
want to play from there.

hope this is correct. good luck

When I installed Classic Doom, it seemed to install ok, it shows up under mods, starts to
load, then freezes.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

When I select "cdoom" from the mods menu and load it, the game crashes after
the "loading game" screen.

This is possibly to do with custom mods that influence the gameplay of
standard Doom that you may have installed - i.e. things in the \base\
folder. Remove all .pk4 files in \base\ EXCEPT for the following:
game00.pk4, pak000.pk4, pak001.pk4, pak002.pk4, pak003.pk4, pak004.pk4. You
can put them back when you've finished playing CDoom.
Make sure you've patched Doom 3 up to version 1.3.

Also, make sure you've patched Doom3 up to version 1.3

Failing all that, you could check the forums:

Nope, didnt work. Put it in the doom 3 folder and even tried in the base
folder and all that was showing up in the mods panel was doom 3.

Anyway this was the path I had for barista3_1 which I am sure was the right
way to do it :
E:\Doom 3\barista3_1 and then
def/maps/newpdas/skins/guis/materials/script/sound are all subfolders inside
the barista3_1 folder

I guess there might be some weird glitch with my installation or even my PC
that is stopping them from working.
