Well I have to say I was very disappointed by the lack of secrets in Doom 3. I wanted a secret level or two, mebbe the odd room full of treats hidden here or there... The best surprise in D3 was the hell level - after eons of running around industrial rooms and corridors, suddenly finding yourself on a little peninsula in a lake of lava was a nice break of scenery. Best bits of D3 for me were - at the beginning, when you've just reached the scientist guy and all hell breaks loose (loved that symbolic hell texture that swept the floor and walls) - the first time you watch a transporter powering up (impressive machinery huh) - some of the big halls and facilities had great architecture to them, very imaginative - the end, leading up to the final battle (walls breaking away and re-arranging, the whole tunnelling-downwards away from the nice safe surface thing - incredibly spooky) Leaving aside gameplay/control/ai etc, what were everyone's favourite parts of the 'story'?

My favs are in no particular order: Alpha Labs Edwards, he's a ray of sunshine when all seems hopeless. Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 - it simply RULZ! I'd give anything to play Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 1 & 2 The enormous fecal remnant in the Mars City bathroom, what is the UAC feeding those guys!? I also got a sick thrill of the one skinny zombie gorging himself on the innards of a fat zombie. You'd think that would've bred some resentment in the fat zombie, but nope, when they both saw me they came together as a team and went to work! Unlike the random scientists I ran into all over the UCA facility who didn't lift a FINGER to help me! The occasional but all too rare bad guy fights! I love it when the spawns of Satan cut loose on each other! I never really know who to root for! The DOOM guy on that one magazine and the Quake chick on t'other as well as the doom guys face on the spawn patterns on the floor-nice touch guys! When the guys with the tentacle arms say "YOU will DIE!" There's something very personal about that...it shows that they really care. -- Servo "Heh, heh! Giggidy, giggidy, giggidy! Heh!"
