NetDoom dies at Soundinit

The shareware version of DOOM had/has no problem on my network at home.

With the registered version though, there is a problem. The first player
starts netdoom from setup, and it gets to the "looking for player" just
fine. The second player starts, and when it does the SoundInit, I get the
blip of sound from the speakers, the cursor drops to the next line, and that
is all she wrote. The drive light stays on for a bit, goes out, and it is
reset switch time.

Hopefully 1.2 will not have this problem, but......

rumors state that you can use the DOOM.EXE from the shareware version with
the .wad file from the reg version. I'm going to give that a try, but....

DOOM works fine standalone (except for reported bugs: savegame slots,
restoring and the crushing walls only go up a little bit, dead bodies on
teleports disabling the teleport, that kind of stuff)

Any ideas on this problem? SB Pro on one machine, SB Pro 16 on the other.
(had 2 SB Pros, but put one in the server today, and the 16 in my machine)

Mark
