Transferring saved games from demo?

I just got my copy of Doom 3.

Is there a way to copy my saved game over from the Demo version? I
really don't feel like replaying the whole first level.

I tried copying the files from the Demo savegames directory into the
full version Savegames directory, but no luck. When I load the game in
Doom3 it returns me to the main menu....

Any advice?

Thanks,
chris.

impossible to import saves.
just skip ahead, look at the bottom here:

I haven't played the demo so I don't know which /map mapname to use.
The beginning of the game are the Mars City and Administration maps.

Well I was in the same situation you were and just bit the bullet.
Actually replaying the first level wasn't that bad and set the mood for
the rest of the game!
