According to Variety, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has been confirmed to star
in the upcoming Doom movie.

The movie will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and John Wells. The
script was writen by Dave Callaham. As reported earlier the movie will be
directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak who directed "Romeo must die","Exit Wounds"
and "Cradle 2 the Grave". He also worked as cinematographer on "Species",
"Lethal Weapon 4" and "The Devils Advocate".

It's said that the script centers around scientists at a Mars facility owned
by the UAC (Union Aerospace Corporation). They experiment with teleportation.
As always something goes terribly wrong and they open a portal to Hell.
Unbelievable creatures escape through this portal and bring devastation to
the facility. Of course there is one main hero that can save the day: John
Grimm, a Marine who is nicknamed "Reaper" and stationed at the complex along
with his squad.

Production is scheduled to beginn next month. There is no release date set,
but Universal hopes to get the movie out before the end of 2005.

I wish you were right, but that is an old story. The movie is now finished
and is pure garbage. It has nothing to do with the game anymore, they
rewrote it entirely. It is not on mars. The monsters are caused by a
virus, hell plays no part in the movie. and the Space Marines are a no show,
it is S.W.A.T. that saves the day. It sounds like another battlefield
earth to me, crap. Here is a fresher link.

According to
http://imdb.com/title/tt0419706/ (I tend to trust IMdb way more than
any other sites)

It's actually:

"When a Special Ops squadron answers a distress call from a science lab
on the planet Olduvai, their investigation reveals that a series of
mutant beings are systematically killing off the population there... "

Still sounds like garbage to me, but whatever.

Seriously, it's a movie based off of a game!

It can't be exactly like the game without pissing off movie people.

It can't be too far from the game without pissing off gaming people.

Gawd I'm sick of this movie news. Just let this crap come out so we can
move on. Maybe RoE will let things cool down a bit (which is probably
going to be more of a DooM movie than the actual movie)

So....if the movie followed the games exactly, it'd be a great movie?
There is just NO WAY to make this movie anything other than total garbage.

Sad.
Why cant hollywood make good movies anymore?
Why cant they take risks and let a Doom movie be Doom?!
Why cant they get good writers and directors to make a good movie?!
Well I might as well be asking why is the sky blue?
Or why is there gravity.
It just is.
Hollywood sux!
