Minimum system specs

We are running a Novell LAN with 486-33s and 4MB of RAM.
I can only get Doom to run on the 8MB machine with
520kb of base free.
The other 4Mb machines won't run it at all, with an out of memory error.
How much XMS does Doom need?
How far from the *operative* level am I?
If I can get the networked version to run, I could persuade my
SU to buy it; and then onwards and upwards...

Thanks.

Azeem

The problem is conventional memory. For meg total is what I have, and it
runs fine. Try loading more high, or better yet, boot with a sys'ed floppy.
