Serial Patch

I've received a package called DOOMSER.ZIP which includes files that will
supposedly allow me to play Doom over a serial (null-modem) cable.
Included are PDETHER, ETHERSL, LSL, IPXODI, and maybe some other files...
However, I tried this out at my friend's place, had the null modem hooked
up to COM2 on both machines (and yes we specified COM2 and the correct IRQ
settings), however, when we try to run NetDOOM, the program just exits
after it says "Looking for players".. I noticed that both machines had
the same network identifier.. Is this a problem ? If so, how can I
correct it? (I really know very little about networks)..

Thanks in advance...

You are correct, there should be TWO directories made when you extract
the files, (use arj x fname), HOST1 and HOST2, each person should use
a different one (using the startnet.bat file).

I've tried this using a real modem connect, and then running the
aforementioned drivers, and it gets all the way to

Found a player!
Found a player!

Then the screen goes blank and it locks up.

Oh well, whens 1.2 coming out again?
