Joystick Problems - Help, Anyone?

I am posting this again to see if anyone can respond with a better answer than
"don't push your joystick to the upper-left extreme."

That was the first thing I tried, before reading news, and it didn't do a darn
thing. Here's the catch:

	1) Doom 1.0 (known also as .99) auto-centers and doesn't have a
lick of trouble cooperating with my CH Mach I (Apple II re-wired)
joystick, and neither do most other programs.

	2) Doom 1.1 operates with the joystick beautifully; at least until
5 minutes in. It usually occurs around Episode One, Level Two.
From the point forward I cannot turn left quickly. Sometimes it
will move, sometimes it won't. Often times the movement is erratic
in that it will move left quickly then slow down to a grinding halt.
Finally it will pick back up and creep to the left some more and
stop. It appears to be completely random.

Has anyone else exprienced this problem with Doom 1.1? or am I alone in this
(possible) defect? Any assistance is GREATLY appreciated. Doom is just NOT the
same on keyboard or mouse! Please E-mail if possible.

Thanks in advance,

Michael Kelsey
