How to load a saved net game?

Fellow doomers -

I love netdoom, but I'd like to save a game or two.  Unfortunately, I've been
having some probs loading them back in.  From what I understand, only one player
has to save, which saves to the same slot for every player.  I load the game
by typing:  
 
    doom -net 2 -loadgame x  

where x is the saved game.  It almost gets there, but then it says that "Player 2
has left the game" when our screens come up.  Then only one screen is up and the
other gets kicked out to DOS saying "lowticks < gameticks" or something like that.

Any ideas?
