Has anyone gotten the registered version of Doom to run a network game
with serial cables?

I called ID yesterday and he told me that 1.2 is scheduled to be
out on the 30th. Everyone who ordered the game will get it.

What a birthday present..:=)

NetDOOM over serial link is kinda possible right now, just get IPX for
serial (nullmodem) cables. Should be avaiable by FTP from somewhere.
I have never used it, but I am quite sure it works. But I think it need the
fastest possible connection, and a modem is only max 38.8 K/sec. But a
nullmodem cable would make it..

netDOOM with serial cables...ouch...don't bother with it. I tried it at 57k with
two 486DX/33 ISA buses and it was slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow!
If you must try, good luck finding DOOMSER.ARJ. I have it only for one reason,
that is, it contains EVERY SINGLE file you need for running valid IPX protocol
over a true network. All you need to do is find DRIVERS.ZIP and get the driver
for your network card.
