I played DOOM v1.0 on a HiNT G486HVL-3 m/b with a 50Mhz CPU and VLB. By tradition this board is recognized as a Mini-EISA motherboard. Later, I was sent a true EISA-VLB m/b using a VIA chipset. I no longer have access to the HiNT motherboard, and, I cannot confirm my use of V1.1 on this motherboard either. Despite this minor setback I installed V1.1 with the true EISA-VLB m/b and the same VLB IDE controller. After five minutes of game play my CH joystick no longer responds 'left' properly. The motion is erratic and sometimes is non-existent. I then re-installed v1.0 and played for 20 minutes with absolutely no joystick problems! No other programs, besides DOOM, appear to generate this symptom. Does anyone know what the problem might be (i.e. software bug, or hardware conflict)? In my opinion, joystick is by far the best (between mouse, keyboard, and joystick) and it sorta stinks that is _just_ _won't_ work! Thanks in advance! -Michael Kelsey mke...@eecs.wsu.edu P.S. Thanks to all the people who sent me E-mail regarding the podiums on Ep. 1 Level 9! After using joystick for everything, I sorta forgot about 'running'!

I have the exact same joystick problem (can't move left). Does anyone have a solution for it?

This should work. Cory

If you use one of those then you'll never get it to work quite right with 1.1... --Michael-- << dmci...@muselab.ac.runet.edu >> <<dmci...@vt.edu>>

Now, what can be the explanation for it? I just seems odd that v1.0 NEVER cuts out and v1.0 does. Sorry to yell, but some people assume stupidity amongst the rest. -Michael
