I'm looking for any Doom editors (map, graphics, sound, etc, NOT
character). Are there any out there, and if so, where? L8r.

the readme file distributed with the game states that ID is asking
that "modified" versions of DOOM not be distributed. Any editors you
find will most likely written by fellow players. I suppose if you
don't let your levels out, noone will know, let alone care, but I
personally have too much respect for the original programmers to mess
with what they've created... Just my 2cents worth...

"id Software respectfully requests that you do not modify the
levels for the shareware version of DOOM. We feel that the
distribution of new levels that work with the shareware version
of DOOM will lessen a potential user's incentive to purchase the
      registered version."

In what way is this an misinterpretation? Real hackers? From the sounds
of your attitude, I doubt you could hack "Hello, World!" in less than
fifty lines. Consider reaching into the clue bag once you hit puberty.

That guy was wrong in the first place. He didn't CLARIFY that ID
SPECIFICALLY REQUEST THAT THE SHAREWARE VERSION is not to be modified. He was
saying that NOTHING CAN BE MODIFIED PERIOD.

I believe that ID is asking us to limit our editors to editing episodes 2
and 3. However, ID would not like us to distribute any original code (this
has always been true). Therefore,

Editors for Episode 1: BAD
Editors for Episodes 2&3: GOOD
"Modified" Versions of Doom: BAD

I think these are very fair limitations and I applaud ID for putting the
consumer first!
