My roommate and I have a ethernet Lantastic network that connects our two
computers together, and we've wanted to play doom on it since it first
came out, but since Doom doesnt support any other network besides IPX
type networks I thought that it was impossible.... But in fact it's not
at all!

What you need are is the Novell IPX ODI driver (IPXODI), the link support
layer driver (LSL), and the ODI driver for your card. You dont have to
have a novell file server to use these things, and they'll load fine as
long as you dont have your other network software loaded. You can obtain
the necessary files from Netware in CI$, or perhaps novell.com (I've not
checked so I dont know). Look for the DOSUP9 file, it'll have the LSL
program, and the IPXODI program along with some drivers for common cards
(NE2000). If your not familar with ODI drivers, you'll need to create
a net.cfg file so that it'll know what your card is set to. It looks
like this:

LINK DRIVER <driver name w/o extension)
   INT n
   PORT n

There are other things you can add, but doing the above only worked for us.

Keep in mind that I have no idea if this will work while other systems
are trying to use the same wire for a different network. for all I know
it might crash the whole network...

Anyway, have fun and keep dooming!
