I was able to succesfully play the sareware version of DOOM for over a month, but then I got the registered version, and now my shareware version has this strange bug. The reason I kept the shareware version is that I heard about that disk-laoding-jerky-slowdown-bug and I wanted to be able to copy my shareware .exe to fix this problem. Anyway, I got the slow-down-bug on level 3-6 (I think) so I copyed the .exe form the shareware and when I ran it my character started running forward and I could't stop him. Evrything else seemed fine. I then reinstallled the shareware version from the .zip file and I had the same problem. I no idea why this is happening, it used to work fine and I have no problems with the registered version. The only thing that I did was I was playing around with the controler type to see what would happen. When I switched to joystick-keyboard mode the game went crazy (i.e. they guy was running on his own) but I fixed that by centering my joystick with those little dials that ost joysticks have. That's the only thing that is different now, except that I now have the registered version (in a different directory). I've tried everything. I even reinstalled to make sure I hadn't inavertantly messed something up, but it's still messed up. Anyone have any ideas about this. I guess it might be a joystick problem, but I have the game configured to no joystick and I even unplugged my joystick and disabled the joystick port. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, -Anthony

I solved it by setting up the mouse buttons a little differently than default. I ended up with button 1 as fire, and button 2 as run forward. To strafe, I had to use the keyboard...
