I have just purchased a gravis ultrasound, almost specificly to play doom :)
To my violent disgust, however, I can't get it working. I consulted the
almighty DOOM faq, which told me lots of interesting stuff, including that
I needed to copy a MIDI driver into my doom directory and rename it.
Unfortuntely, this MIDI driver doesn't seem to have come with my doom disks.
I then turned around and went to ftp it, since the FAQ said I could.
Unfortunately, the FAQ didn't say where I could ftp it. I tried ftp.uwp.edu,
where I thought I remembered seeing it, but it seems to have gone to the
bit bucket.
Could someone please uuencode this driver and mail it to me, or tell me
where I can ftp it? Thanks.

Thanks. > Do not dispare, DOOM works GREAT with the GUS, better than SB (unless you have a bum motherboard). All you need to do is upgrade to version 1.1 of DOOM and set your GF1 IRQ to something less than 8. Most GUSers use a batch file to set the ULTRASND environment variable just for DOOM and back again when the game exits. I'm afraid I don't have the full details with me, but if you need help doing this let me know. The patch to 1.1 as well as 1.1 itself is available on ftp.uwp.edu in pub/msdos/games/id. If you don't know about it you probably want to get on the GUS digest. The address to subscribe is: gus-gener...@dsd.es.com. There is also a dedicated GUS ftp site (archive.epas.utoronto.ca) as well as a GUS area on wuarchive.wustl.edu: /systems/ibmpc/ultrasound. These places also have the basic DOOM stuff. Happy GUSing! -- Dave
