Method #2:

Have the soul cube at the ready and fire it to start with, then run around 
the pit and keep firing bfg at the cyberdemon - it will both hurt the 
cyberdemon and kill all the minions.
Keep doing until soulcube is alive again then hit demon with the soul cube. 
Repeat until the end sequence kicks in.
