Meh, depends on what kind of games you're into.
For instance, I like realistic tactical shooters, so I've been playing
hideous destructor in ultimate doom alot recently...but that's a hard as
balls mod.

Are you looking for mapsets, gameplay mods? What?

Good mapsets IMO:
>back to saturn X
>hellbound (a bit hard for new players)
>UAC Ultra

Good gameplay mods:
>ww-doomnukem
>ww-nazis
>Beautiful Doom

Note that most of these will only run under Gzdoom...and just to inform
you, there aren't any mods that only run under DOS Doom. Most people who
mod with backwards compatibility in mind aim for BOOM compatibility, and
that's barring the fact the 99% of modders don't even go that far and
just take the lazy route and straight up mod for gzdoom and it's
relatives.

Also, look out for the doom community on 4chan's /vr/ board, the zdoom
forums and doomworld. Hate to be blunt, but they're going to be alot more
active than fucking USENET.
