Welcome to Doom3 Carl.    I've been enjoying it for some time.   Note that 
you're likely to be told that DARK is simply how the game *IS*.   Not quite 
true.  Id put some new type of lighting to work in this game and a lot of 
folks didn't like it.  I thought it was just a game and the lighting while 
different, isn't so bad.
I don't have a little file worked up that just gives ya the options you 
need.  But do have a look over at upset chaps at their doom3 guide.  It's a 
good one.
