You're honest, I think.   Problem is that you don't see the wrong or the 
harm your path accomplishes.   Most of us do.    Like the OP says, I/we are 
no paragons of virtue.   I'd think that quite a few of us started out 
thinking we could just copy it or download it FREE.    And you can do that. 
You will also hurt all our chances of having even better from the same ones 
that were NOT recompensed by your choice.
In the end, you'll still make whatever choice you want.   And we will make 
ours.
