Have you tried closing all unneccessary programs/processes, in case it's
some kind of conflict?

Failing that, you could try a manual install:

All you need to do is creat a directory /DOOM 3 (where ever you want it,
create a base directory /base, then copy the PK4 files to the /base
directory and the exe to your /DOOM 3 directory.

Running the game will then create all the config files etc. ..
