It is not virtually nothing.
Progammers put the real effort, real sweat, long hours into making these 
products, eliminating the bugs (and I know how hard the effort was for 
individual members of ID Software - I have connections with the programmer 
games community - I am programmer), you use them under licensed conditions, 
you break those conditions, you owe them money. Simple as that.

I would.
I would like to find out how you would feel if it your work being ripped off 
by others.
ID Software, Raven produce quality games - do you begrudge paying them the 
dollars they ask?
Their older games are reasonably cheap - a bargain.
And we would talk face to face, I would see to that.
