First: No one should be playing at the easiest level. It is a long game
and you probably won't play it all the way through again. By playing at
Easy you miss most of the challenge, and waste your money. I was
disappointed to have played below Veteran, because I was suckered into
it by everyone saying, "It's soooo hard... ohhhhh". Veteran is the
MINIMUM you should play at. Yes, IT WILL BE REALLY TOUGH, but when you
get through it you will feel much more accomplishment - without having
to play it again to prove you are not a pussy.

Second: Anything below Veteran is Pussy Level! Winning at Pussy Level
isn't beating the game. You might as well enable unlimited ammo and no
damage, walk through it like a movie in about 2 hours, and claim you
"beat the game". You DIDN'T!

Three: There is no Three.

That said:
When the game came out last year, after about two months many people
tried to a "pure" game without dying (as if you were really the Marine
dropped there). I've completed the game, with many saves, at Veteran,
and I feel I could make it on easy level without dying - now that I know
the layout and I'm sufficiently paranoid. Well, maybe that section that
is totally black when you need the engineer to light the way, might give
me trouble... oh, and Hell itself...

Anyone remember Ghosts and Goblins? That game made you play the entire
thing over every time you died and I got to the end (or maybe to the
penultimate level)! Exhausting!
