What do i save the doomconfig.cfg as ??

Is it a just a simple text document ?

I open it up in wordpad and change a few things and load doom and i
just crashes, changing somthing should not make it crash ??

Just thinking its saving it as somthing doom3 can read, thus the
crash.

Does not matter what i change all crashes, just using the tweaks ive
been reading, get alittle better fps ect, seems i can't doo it for
some reason.
