I have a 2800 Barton core CPU and that, along with the mobile 2500 mobile
that legions of folks have OC'ed are still very viable CPU's. It's the 512Kb
of L2 cache that keeps this CPU strong. Non Barton XP's do have a more
difficult time with D3. I was on the verge of going to a 3200 64 but the
benches don't show that much of a difference and I'm getting great game play
from my system with a 5900 card and a 1 GB of dual channel ram. Fluid frame
rates and no stuttering. I had no trouble with Painkiller or FarCry, all
played at 1024x768 with most options on. I plan on going to the 3800 64
socket 939 when prices come back down to earth.
