Well it isnt really but thats the best way to describe it. The game
installed and loads but the intro movie was choppy and then the menu loads
with what looks like planet in the background, but it is corrupted and very
slow. Literally 1 frame per second.

My system:

512meg RAM, P4 2.4 Ghz and a 128meg GF4 ti4200.

I have tried:

3 different detonator drivers (including latest)
Reinstalling DirectX
Using aTuner to emulate a GeforceFX (I had to do this to get the leaked beta
running last year)
Copying the doom3 folder (including config file) from a PC which it worked
on

Note: Call of Duty works fine which uses OpenGL as well (I presume Doom3
uses openGL)
Far Cry works fine which is a completly different game but is DirectX 9

I dont know what to try - it is obviously some sort of graphic driver/card
issue but I dont have any other tricks to try? Google searches revealed at
least two other people with the same problem and they have GF4 Ti4200 as
well, but there are plenty of people with these cards that the game works
fine on.

Any hints or a solutions would be muchly appreciated,

Ta,
Damo
