Have Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum 6.1 which can be set from 2
speaker all the way up to 6.1. When set to 6.1, surround sound in Doom is
unavailable. Setting back to 5.1 allows surround sound to be available
though. Going to Windows Control panel (Win XP Pro), it only has settings
for 5.1 and 7.1 (no 6.1 available). Setting to 6.1 in Creative software
automatically changes Windows Control Panel to 7.1.

Questions:

Is this a Doom, Creative, or Windows issue?

Is there any fix to this or any way to get Doom to work with surround sound
set to 6.1 rather than having to set to 5.1?

Could find no info on this other than Doom site saying it needs to be set to
5.1 if having trouble with 7.1 - no mention of 6.1.

TIA for any help..
