In Far Cry, the mercs usually have on good body-armor, and it takes a lot of
body shots, or just one or two headshots, to kill. After you get used to aiming
for the head, or at least going in expecting to lay enough firepower into their
armor to poke the requisite holes through it, you do a lot better. What bothers
me the most in Far Cry, is the inability to save at will. Nothing worse than spend-
ing an hour creeping around and stealthing your way perfectly through a level,
just to run into some hopeless trap or ambush that kills you and forces you to play
the whole level through for another hour (and another, and another...). I'd be five
times as far through the game as I am, if not for all the annoying forced re-do's. I
guess some people like being forced to replay levels over and over... I think it sucks,
and will always prefer a nice save-at-will feature. Those who like the 'challenge' of
only having specific save-points, can simply refrain from using the 'quicksave'.
Doom 3 got that part right.
