I paid $43.99 this past Friday at Best Buy. They offer it for $54.99, but
then I pointed out to them that Circuit City (located across the street) has
it in stock for $44.99. I also pointed out their policy of allowing a
refund plus 10% of the difference if, within 30 days I find the item for a
lower price than their (Best Buy's) price. I asked them to offer that to me
in addition to Circuit City's price. Originally, they told me they couldn't
do that...they would only match Circuit City's price. I said, "You mean I
have to return the item to get my extra 10%!?" They said yes...I told them
"okay, if that's what I have to do then I'll do it, but you ultimately lose
the sale." After conferring with the store manager for a minute the clerk
sold it to me for $43.99. Not too bad (and it was kinda fun...the clerk
understood what I meant, but at first nobody seemed to want to follow the
spirit of their policy...only the letter).
