Why did the lame ass developers at ID copy the lame ass > lighting from Splinter Cell? At least Splinter Cell has unique gameplay, > but in the real world LIGHT DOESN'T WORK THIS WAY. (and yes I'm pissed that I payed 50 > bucks for this crap) I have the same problem. Everything is ok up until when the security guard says "collect your weapons and armour from the cabinet". So I collect my weapon and pistol, then a few seconds later the screen freezes for about 20 to 30 seconds. When things start moving again, ALL I can see are things that have their own light like the neon strips and the monitor screens by the doors, everything else is PITCH BLACK, the flashlight doesn't light anything up, I have the brightness at maximum. This happens everytime. One time the machine crashed and rebooted a few seconds into where it freezes. I have error reporting turned on, the error was sent to microsoft and their answer was that this is a KNOWN issue with Windows XP and that they are working on fixing it. I am hoping SP2 will fix it. This doesn't just happen with Doom 3, ALL my other 3D games freeze like this (they don't go dark though), they periodically freeze for about 20 to 30 seconds then start moving again, Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time, Colin Mcae 4, Max Payne 2, Mafia... Don't tell me this is an overheat problem with the graphics card, all my fans are in full working order. I saw somewhere this is an issue with some nVidia cards and Athlon CPUs. I have all the latest drivers installed including motherboard chipset drivers but I have also tried backdating to all versions, they all give the same problem. My system: Windows XP Home SP1a nVidia GeForce 4 Ti 4600 512Mb RAM AMD Athlon XP2000+ 1668GHz Creative Soundblaster Audigy 5.1 Socket A motherboard, A7A266-E, ALiMaGiK 1 Chipset, DDR RAM / SDRAM Cheers, Gaz.
