Why buy a $450 card to look at a black screen? Because on your machine the $450 card won't work any better than a current $175 card. Everyone has to evaluate whether the cost of keeping up is actually worth it to them. It's an ongoing process, the personal computing world is in a continuous state of flux, it never ever settles down. It is always moving and the direction is upward. If one has very deep and very full pockets they can keep up if they wish. Personally, I 'wish' but don't have the pockets to match :) So I'm always a little behind in hardware, never right up there on the BLEEDING cutting edge. Even so, it's still enough for me to be happy with. There are people playing Doom3 somewhat comfortably with machine specs similar to yours, but with twice the RAM and a better video card. Not the most or the best. Simply more than your current. I'm feeling somewhat saddened with your plight. I'm not kidding nor implying other than what I just said. Just being honest. Best regards, McG.
