I was and still am a huge fan of id but I have spent 40 hours trying
to get Doom 3 to run on my machine. I had a fresh updated Install of
XP waiting for the Doom 3 arrival. All updates applied. No crap
overhead software running or clutter on HDD. Latest MB bios/sound
drivers/video drivers...even tried Doom 3 hot fix ATI drivers and
games just keeps on crashing...I have been building PC's for years and
I have scoured the net for fixes and tried them all. Nothing keeps
game from crashing. I can't enjoy it one bit. 600 bucks in upgrades
and 60 plus for the game..add tax and it's close to 800 bucks for a
game I can't play for shit. Activision has crap answers to all the
problems popping up. I am happy for the people who have it running
fine..Hope a patch works...I guess I'l l start playing checkers chess
for fun....
Anyway my system is as follows...

MSI 865 PE Neo 2
Intel P4 3.0
1 gig ram
36 gig WD SATA HDD
Plextor PX-708A DVD burner
ATI X 800 pro video card
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
Antec 550W power supply
No overclocking going on and extra video colling fans x2...

Sign me waiting for a patch and pissed off...Benevolent souls with a
clue can post any fixes they have here if you like...

Peace to all...
Sam
