Chainsaw Bug?

Well, I got the chainsaw on level II episode 1 (I got the shareware version,
1.1). However, once I switch to any other weapon the chainsaw completely
disappears. And while I got it, the '4' in the weapons status does _not_ light
up. Also, the exit door seems to stop functioning. I haven't tracked the exact
point but if I do _something_ in that level, the exit door just freezes. It
seems that its either opening the computer maze or getting the chainsaw.

There is mention of doom game save files in the FAQ, and one of the save file
editors (doomed or doomed2) mentioned .DSG files. However, when I do 'dir' I
see no trace of anything like a save file (e.g., one per used saved game
slot). Definitely no .dsg files. Where is it hiding?

I use the game in low detail mode on a 386/33 and the game _flies_. But when I
switch to high-detail, it becomes jerky, but there is no visible change in the
image. Now, it is clearly doing _something_ extra... What? BTW, I'm one of
those who really need the F11 gamma-correction - otherwise the image is almost
completely dark. Is this related somehow?

						Thanks,
							Oren.
