OK, I've checked the FAQ but it says nothing about net doom. We're currently trying to track down odd network faults in a twisted pair novell ethernet which seem to be caused by doom. I *believe* net doom simply transmits broadcast packets using the IPX driver and does *not* establish connections. All workstations playing the game broadcast what the particular player is doing, and therefore each player's machine receives broadcasts from every other player's machine. The network problems appear to result from excessive quatities of broadcast packets on the ethernet. However - we have many fileservers on the segment, and only a couple of the fileservers are complaining as a result of the broadcasts. This doesn't seem to make sense. If anyone can explain to me more clearly *exactly* how net doom functions, please email me. I'd really appreciate help from any novell administrator who has been through the exercise of tracking down bugs associated with people playing doom on their network. Please email replies since I do not normally read this group.
