Runescape is a massive 3d multiplayer adventure, with monsters to
kill, quests to complete, and treasure to win. You control your own
character who will improve and become more powerful the more you play.
Released by Jagex in November of 2004, runescape now entertains more
than six million people in dozens of countries. It has spawned
countless fan forums and websites, home made videos, fan art and even
songs! Usually, gamer culture remains separated from general culture -
but runescape has broken down that barrier, with runescape icons like
Leeroy Jenkins making their way into a Jeopardy question! Runescape is
a roleplaying game, which means a player takes on the role of a
character they create and battle their way through creatures, dungeons
and traps to earn experience and find treasure. Dungeons in runescape
are called instances because one is spawned specifically for each
party that enters it. This way, a group of would-be adventurers can go
into a dungeon and explore it all to themselves without having to
fight other players for creatures, or being forced to "camp" locations
to get treasure. Like many RPGs, the first 20 or so levels are very
easy and attainable within a few days of play. However, the remaining
40 levels take far longer. The word "Grind" is used to describe what
it is like to level up a character - so you can imagine what that
