adding MANA not MAGIC

Is there a permanent way to add mana without more magic
points (I maxxed out). By permanent I mean no rings, amulets, etc.
Visited a few too many shrines as a Rogue and I lost about 30-60? MP
and well, the later levels are starting to suck when I have to bring
in an inventory filled with mana potions :)

That's another thing that I found out about the game that I really dislike.
It will permantly take away your mana points, and you don't even know it until
you start asking other players about the different shrines. By then, you are
already level 30 or higher and have lost over 100 mana poits. In my case, I
had only 220 mana points at level 33, and my magic skill was around 170. If
you calculate what I should have (which is 2 mana points per one magic point,
and remember that a mage starts out with a magic of 35 and 130 mana points) I
am missing about 180 mana points. For a mage, that is a precious loss. Those
extra mana points are extra HP.

As far as I know, there is no way to restore permanantly lost mana points
without magically modifying your magic skill. That sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I second that...it really sucks that no shrine that increase max mana or
no way to restore the perm mana loss exists.

How did you get a 1st level sorcerer with 130 mana?

Well, geez, that's what you get for going up to shrines when you don't
know what they do. I even stayed away from blood fountains until I found
out they healed you.

You know what I'm going to do? (this has nothing to do with the
thread) Since I'm at a level where I could purchase magic, dex, str
potions, I am going to use that char to buy a lot and then start a new
character and give it all to that new character. Maybe I'll reach 130
mana at level one eh?

Try using the Eeerie shrine.

I restarted my character a couple weeks ago, and gave it all my old
equipment, including 2 Rings of the Heavens, a Drake's Amulet of the
Heavens, and several other pieces that added to my stat total. All
told, I had over 300 mana at level 1.

hehe. I have not been reading this newsgroup for about a week or so. Maybe I
am just a stupid person or something, I don't know. But, I do know this. The
first couple of shrines that I touched built up my stats. It took me a little
while to see this at first. Therefore, I started using all shrines based on
the assumption that your stats would be built up. Yes, I did learn fairly
quickly that some stats went down from some shrines. I really did not care
about my stats going down occasionally. I did not, however, notice my mana
going down until I was around level 33. I guess that is where my stupidity
comes in. :) Good luck playing that suckass game.

Well, geez, maybe I should stay away from scrolls, spells, potions
because at first I had no clue what they did either. I always loved
how hindsight is 100% accurate.

I was under that impression also. Kinda sucks to find out until
fairly into the middle of the game, but at least building up a new
character is extremely easy :) .. until level 28ish ;)

Stay away from blackdeath too. Anyone know of other enemies that take
away stats?
