	I've been using diablo for awhile now. I have a 6x & a p166 with 32mb ram.
Even with my system the lvl's still take a LONG time to load. I know Diablo
is run primarily from the CD, and I guess my 6x isn't good enough.. but
instead of buying a new Cd-rom drive, could I run Diablo from my hard
drive?? any way to do this?, havn't tryed anything yet, and thought I'd
post to see if ne1 has

	-thanks in advance

You could try using Virtual CD from www.logicraft.com.

This may not be good as running Virtual CD, but I have gotten pretty
good improvement using CD-ROM Caching utility. I can't remember the
name of the shareware program (doh) but it allows you to use either RAM
or Hard Disk space to cache your CD-ROM. So far it works great with 60
to 100 MB caching on hard disk. You should be able to find this in big
PC archives such as www.cdrom.com or www.winsite.com

I've gotten it to work quite nicely using a program called VIRTUAL CD-ROM,
check it out at

www.logicraft.com

You can download a shareware trial version. I've tried it and love it.
Great for home networks as well. Gets around spawning issues.

These kinds of idiots piss me off. "spawning issue"?! What this moron
really means is that a person could just use that virtual cd to copy the
cd on to his friend's harddrive with the game still runnable so that his
cheap friend doesn't have to buy the game.

I mean, here in Canada, the game is only like 40 to 50 bucks, CHEAP!
battle.net is free, what more do these fucking pirates want? games to go
for 90 bucks apiece so that there is nobody to copy their stolen games
from?

I applaud blizzard in their pricing of the game, and as far as I know,
even my cheapest theif friends are buying this game EVEN THOUGH they all
have have virtual cd AND huge harrdrives.

I am running Diablo from my Hard Drive and it flies!!!!! You need a
program called "Virtual CD-rom" it's made by "logicraft" it makes a
chunk of your HD look like a cd-rom drive to windows and it works
great!!

Actually, I own a copy of the game, but I'm using a hacked up version
anyways. Why? Because 1) the hacked up version runs about 200 percent
faster -- literally. 2) I don't have to listen to those idiotic
voices every time you go to Griswold, etc. You'd figure blizzard would
at least include commands to turn off the voices and scroll the
quest text faster ugh. Do people really read that *slooooooowly*?
