I believe that a unique is relative to a one session and not to the entire
universe as we know it. So, yes, player A and player B both have a Royal
Circlet which they respectively obtained from different games.
Be seeing you,

Unique only means "unique to that gaming session". Desslock

I use to think that was true, however, in a game of hell/hell last
night we found two Grizzlies. One from one of Laz's witches, the
other from one of Diablo's perimeter cronies, (not Sir Gorash, just a
normal tin man). Of course, we were VERY careful not to drop them
both and lose one.
Basically, I think "unique" is nothing more than a complete misnomer.
I just think it means "something with it's own name and specialized
stats."

There are legitimate means of getting multiple unique items. I myself found two windforces, within a span of two hours, though in two different games. Of course, there is also the usual dupe trick, which as far as I know still works. As for deleting duplicates of unique items, it seems that as long as both are legitimately acquired, Diablo does nothing. I drop my two windforces, and nothing happens. It could be that they are not exactly identical, cuz I put one of my windforce through Hidden shrine, its durability is 70 versus the standard 60. On the other hand, I bought two mana potions from Adria, dropped both of them and Diablo reported duplicate items and promptly removed one of them. There, it seems that nothing is certain as far as the dupe item detection routine is concerned. A safe bet is to always make sure to not drop any item you do not wish to part with involuntarily.
