The best way is to clear the level first, making notice of rooms with barred windows, and lockable doors(make sure not to block them). After that open butcher's door and lead him to the barred room. Close the door to the room before he can come inside and shoot him with whatever you got until he dies. You might want to pick up at least a shortbow, or couple scrolls of firewall if you do not have the book of firewall.
