I emailed Blizzard tech support about this (I have an orginal Ensoniq
Soundscape, about 1 1/2 years old) and they suggested this:

Go to control panel - multimedia. Under audio, make sure "Use Prefered
Devices only" is checked. (rebooting might be necessary)

This alone didn't work for me. After playing around a bit I found that
selecting the 'Soundscape Playtback (330)' option under preferred device
fixed the problem.

Give it a try, and good luck!
