Is it possible to have Dragon's staff of arch-angel? If so, it will
even beat Dreamflange in spell level category.

I concede, but wouldn't a godly helm of zodiac match-up quite well
against the Royal Circlet?

I'm not familiar with this one.

IMHO, AC40 plus slew of features with +4 damage from enemy as the only
weakness, this shouldn't be a controversy.

The problem with Thinking cap is that its durability is a pathetic 1,
without hidden shrine, I'm hesitant to bring it one for a spin.

As for Naj's Light Plate, well, a mage with few rings and a decent
amulet should clear the strength hurdle to wear at least a scale.
I was wearing one before I lost it. With a decent modifier, e.g.
glorious and above, these scale mails beat Naj's Light Plate in terms
of sheer protection.
