Question re: the NM FE bug

I am currently trying to build a clone killing pally.  I am in nm.  I have
killed quite a few bosses - including Hephasto - that were Fire Enchanted,
but my life ball only goes down about 10-20 percent.  Is this because I am
maxed on my resistances, or, is this because I have items that give me
'damage reduced by x' as well as items that give me 'damage reduced by x%'
(I also have 'magic damage reduced by x')?  Or have I just been 'lucky' so
far and the next one could take me with him when he goes?
