Actually this was the idea I had the moment the game came out. I thought then and still think the idea of a level cap is the game's biggest problem. A level cap means you character slowly grinds to a halt and it gets boring. What I think would fix a host of problems is to extend the development of a character out to infinity. This can be done quite easily. For example, once your character hits level 99, you get the option to get reset back to level one in exchange for a reward. Keep track of the number of resets a character has had as part of the ladder. With that alone, you can basically chuck every xp cap there is. The reward could be anything. A really cool skill. A nice item. Maybe extra stat points at the start. An ability to take skills naturally beyond 20. A combination. You can stagger the rewards per reset. First reset gives you max of 21 per skill. Second is max of 22. Third is max of 23. Or first is a 6-attribute rare jewel. Second is a 7-attribute rare jewel. Third is an 8-attribute rare jewel. Anyway, that is how I would've coded this game from the beginning. Kills the boredom at the top and you don't have a load of 99s on the ladder. I saw that problem coming a mile away.
