Now, I know all the joy that most anti-cheaters feel (myself included) when we hear of the new cheat prevention feature of the new patch. However, when I read into the release note, I'm not so sure if this patch is the best Blizzard could do. Don't get me wrong, I think the fact that Blizzard took the time to fix the cheat says a lot about its commitment to providing a good game. BTW, I don't feel that Blizzard is necessarily responsible for fixing the cheat. You can hardly fault car makers for making cars that some criminals use for their escapes. Anyway, back to the subject, my understanding of the dupe item is that this involve the use of the town portal trick. Now, I don't understand why Blizzard, given its intention to prevent cheating, can't fix the town portal trick. Why does it have to rely on this drop two identical objects and one of them is deleted? What happen to unique items? Countless mages are carrying Dreamflange, numerous rogues swear by their Eaglehorn or Windforce, all legiimately acquired of course. This reminds me of Bethesda's infamous fix of some of its bugs by disallowing some of the actions that are causing the problem. Luckily, Blizzard didn't choose to eliminate the use of town portal just to avoid the dupe trick. From now on, we'll have to ask around to see if anyone in our party has already dropped a similar item, for fear that our hard earned trophy might vanish because of this half-hearted attempt at preventing cheats. While I applaud Blizzard for its attention to players' experience, I cannot say the same thing with the way it handles the problem. How unfortunate. Later...
