Hey all! Any oldtimers still around? I started playing Descent 1 online even before Kali came out. We used to use IHHD via a UNIX shell account over 9600 back in the day (this was probably back in 1995. D-BUG-R was my nick. Just wondering if any of the old guys are still around! I just discovered D1X and it's so awesome! I'm so glad I can play it again! I think the last time I played was 1997! Kris

Remember MILK? Multiplayer Internet Link I think the acronym meant.
Not many people knew about it, the maker was a teenager who intended to get
in on the budding internet gaming phenomenon and compete with Kali (which
was in beta at the time as I recall). It ended up fizzling out when he
couldn't get 3player games to be stable. IHHD was mostly a failure for me
(a modemer), though I had a few quake1 demo games. #descent on IRC was a
rocking place back then, with Parallax programmers popping in every so
often, and channel takeover battles occurring regularly :)

Derek was a funny guy, Zod on the other hand was the one guy that made the DBB so popular by driving most of the regulars out of this ng. AFAIS the DBB is just having a hard time. Lots of people leave it for "personal" reasons as most of the postings are flamewars. Will this ng again be the place where the community meets for a talk? Lueder

I still play it from time to time now - but everybody is talking about Decent3 - hope to get that too eventually.
