Question about playing descent 1 in descent 2

I've got the definitive collection, so I've got both descent 1 and 2.  I
prefer descent 2's interface and the fact that it's higher resolution, so I
opened up the mission editor and converted all of the descent 1 levels to
descent 2 levels.  All that works fine, except the briefings are gone.  So
I've got 2 questions:

    1.  Is there any way to convert the briefings as well, so I can at least
see them when playing d1 in d2?

    2.  Has someone already done this, and if so, where could I get the
version they did?

someone has already ported all the D1 levels for D2.

Ok, I looked around and found the files d1conv.zip and d1conv15.zip, neither
of which seem to work (d1conv15.zip throws an error whenever I try to start
a d2 pilot and select descent:second strike as their mission)

Is there some other section in the list for a converted d1 to d2 game other
than in the d section?  Is there one in particular that is known to work
well?

Been ages since I tried this so I don't which version the ported levels 
were but they ran flawlessly.

Haven't heard of any else, you should try to get hold of Descent Mission 
Builder II and check if you can use it for making briefings. Actually I 
do not see too much of a point here but the story in Descent always was 
kinda non-important to the gameplay...

The d1conv.zip is the file I use. It works fine, but it has no briefings
either.
You may want to try D1X. It will give you the resolution and more.
