You're talking about a cheat utility that alters numbers in one of your save game files in the Descent directory. There are several of them out there; in my opinion the best one is Despatch, for D1 and D2. There's also a program that will alter the way you ship moves or handles in the the game (by altering the HAM file, with a backup). It's only for Descent 2, but it's a really neat program, called GX-Edit. If you like Descent 1, and haven't already bought Descent 2 you should buy it now while it's still available (I paid $5 for each). (D2 is about as good, if not better, than D1, and better than D3, in my opinion.)
