I had to fdisk and after reinstalling windows 2000 when I try to install D2
it tells me this is a win 95 game ( or something close ) . I have the
compatability patch downloaded and have windows 95 compatabilty layer chosen
but it still won't let me play . I had it installed before but I have
forgotten something I need to do. Can anyone remind me?

default reply: don't bother with the 5 or 6 year old binaries - try d2x 
from icculus.org/d2x and enjoy the benefits of Open Sources ;-)

I've had trouble getting d2x to run (correctly) on my machine, and I may 
not be alone.  I have found a quite workable alternative, however: 
Glidos and VDMSound.  Glidos (http://www.glidos.net/) is not free, but 
it is cheap (US$10).  VDMSound (http://ntvdm.cjb.net/) is free.

I downloaded it and unzipped it in my descent II folder. I can play but it
doesn't see my joystick. What have I missed?
